Overview
Homecare Hub is a start-up platform that helps those struggling to find reliable care for loved ones by connecting them to high quality homecare. As a design intern I joined the company during the time it was expanding their services to include shared living and adult day programs, as well as, expanding their outreach efforts.
My Role
As a design intern, I initially came on board as a graphic designer to create web and print collaterals to increase company recognition and promote its services. In addition, a large portion of the time was dedicated to the research and re-design of the homepage to improve the overall user experience and flow of information for older adults.
Homepage Re-Design
Design Process
For the design of the new homepage the process was as followed, I broke down the page into its elements and sections, highlighting some of the needs and key issues based on best design practices. This was followed by reaching out to other UX designers and asking for their input and feedback on what they saw as problem areas upon first interaction with the website. Competition analysis was conducted on other sites that catered to the same target audience to understand trends and practices for this specific demographic.
Through analysis key issues that needed to be addressed included (1) making the page more user friendly, (2) updating the search engine as new services were being added, and (3) establishing credibility.
Following this, a team meeting was held where I presented the key findings and it was agreed upon that the whole homepage needed to be re-designed, to address the key issues while maintaining the service engine on the homepage. From there a series of quick brainstorming sessions, multiple iteration cycles, low-fidelity wireframes, constant feedback, meetings, and revision cycles were held until a finalized page was created and implemented.
For a more detailed look into the process please view the process journal at the end of this page.
Graphic Design / Social Media Work

In addition to the webpage, I also worked on a series of collaterals for print and web distribution to expand company and event awareness.

Result:
Though I came in as a graphic design intern, I worked closer to a UX designer having the amazing opportunity to take on various roles. During my time at Homecare Hub I had to develop some major time management skills working under tight deadlines, managing multiple projects at once, and looking at ways I can utilize my skillset to assist the company on achieving its goals. This was an exciting and fun learning experience, and it was rewarding to see the outcomes of final design products and new clients coming in through outreach efforts.
